Monday, October 26: Finish working on found/shape poem. We will copy out on 
computer paper and color with colored pencils in class.

Tuesday, October 27th: fill out tan worksheet writing 10 sentences with 
instructions using October by Robert Frost. Since it is raining, use the 
senses of smell and sound the most. You can simply stand at a window or in a 
car roll down a window and experience Nature on a rainy day. There is a 
definite scent of rain on wet fall leaves. Use ASSAP.
Wednesday, October 28th: work on green seed poem. Another found poem with 
lines from your observations on the tan worksheet last night plus October by 
Robert Frost and my October poems. Your found poem is made up of incomplete 
sentences, colors, and sounds. We will finish this in class and color.

Monday, November 2: Answer questions on Pumpkin Paragraph worksheet. write 10 
complete sentences in pumpkin. Due Wed 4th.

Wednesday, 4th: read in your book for 20 minutes. Find one spot that 
surprises, amuses, teaches you and jot down the page number on post it note.

Thursday, November 5th: finish copying out October by Robert Frost in best 
handwriting and decorate it appropriately.

Weekend: read twenty minutes Saturday and Sunday in your ssr book and do two 
post-it-notes of passages that you found interesting, surprising, sad, happy, 
or you learned something from and why. We will do the same thing in class, 
write about them briefly in our journals. This reading is separate from the 
reading you do for English A.

Monday, 11/9/09

Go outside in Nature and describe how you feel. Indian Summer is when Mother 
Nature gives us the gift of warmer weather in late fall and then takes it 
back. She is an Indian giver. Use ASSAP in your paragraph as well as new 
colors and vocabulary.

Tuesday, 11/10/09
Fill out worksheet on double entry journal system on 3 quotes in your SSR 
book. This is a take home quizlet. Use the gray worksheet with the format.
Wednesday, 11/11/09

Make index cards for each new vocabulary word on the lavender sheet. Word and 
part of speech on one side and definition on other. See Handouts icon for 
words.

Thursday, 11/12/09:

Draw symbols for each new word on your index cards on the definition side.  
Add to scorn to your list: to scorn means to show contempt or anger and 
disgust about something or someone. Rogue also means a scoundrel and a scamp, 
a dishonest person, a thief.

Friday the 13th: Do blue worksheet on "Nature and You in Late November." 
You'll need Frost's poems and my October.

Monday, 16th: 
study index cards for a quizlet. Word bank, no spelling mistakes, fill in the 
blanks in the sentences.
Tuesday, 11/17/09
Finish Ana's apartment and Gonzalo/Tio Juan's apartment. Start brainstorming 
your legend on worksheet. 

Wednesday, 11/17/09

Brainstorm legend ideas: how and why the hippo lost her polka dots and became 
a ballerina. She got plastic surgery and lost weight so she could fit into 
her tutu. Have fun with your ideas.
Thursday, 11/18/09

Index cards checked and graded. Lists of words are under Hand-outs: Vocab for 
Calm Before the Storm and October and November. Continue brainstorm for 
legend.

Monday, 11/23/09

No homework. We will finish journals in school. happy turkey.

Tuesday, 11/24/09
There is a long list of owe me's on the board for Monday. 
Anyone who owes me work should try to get it done asap. I need to record the 
grades. Thank you. 

Monday, 11/30:
Copy your favorite entry from your Colebrook journal on a separate piece of 
paper plus a colorful drawing. You may include a photo.

Tuesday, 12/1: Finish your Colebrook journal by Friday. I will give you 
directions for the found-shape poem with your Nature's charms to do for the 
weekend.  It will be a poster decorated with the things you collected glued 
on around it. I will tell you the exact measurements for the poster. It is 
not a big poster.
The poster will be 12 by 18" made of tag board. This is the size and typed 
of poster board used for your science foldable project with Mrs. Fine. It is 
a good idea to buy the small packet at the store because you will need more 
of the posters for later on.

Paste your found/shape poem on the poster and decorate around it with 
collection of nature charms, photos, and or colored drawings. You must have 
your name on the poster. This is due Monday, December 7, 2009.

Correct Silver Team letter. Quizlet on Friday.  Notice 12 by 18" tag board.

Thursday, 12/3/09
Study for the quizlet on Silver Team Letter 51 mistakes. Colebrook Journals 
due. Poster due Monday.

Friday, 12/4/09

Poster: make it "wow" full of color and fun. Use magazine pictures, clip art 
if you need to plus photos and color pencil drawings.  Make it neat and clean 
and clever. Put your found/shape poem in the middle and decorate around it 
with your nature collections, colored drawings, and photos.

Monday, 12/7/09

Brainstorm on paper 4 characters from Seedfolks to write about and draw.  
This will become a storyboard.

Tuesday, 12/8/09

Work on your legend. Make sure it has an interesting beginning, a middle full 
of action and surprises, and an ending that makes the reader want to read 
more.

Wednesday, 12/9/09

Correct the Silver TEam letter. Quizlet on Friday.

Thursday, 12/10/09

Study for quizlet on letter.

Friday, 12/11/09

Continue to work on your legend. Picture your main character and show that 
the character changes during the legend.  Start typing up first draft, double 
spaced #14. 

Actually start a drawing for your legend. Let it help you viualize the plot 
and the characters.

Monday, 12/14: Work on the coloring and drawing of your Seedfolks storyboard. 
All due Friday for that.

Tuesday, 12/15: Try to finish your storyboard. Color and draw too. make it 
neat and legible for me. Due Friday.
Wednesday, 12/16: Work on your legend. due Tuesday, 12/22/09 first typed 
draft.


Wednesday, 16th:

Correct Silver Team letter. Quizlet on Friday. Finish storyboard due Friday 
18th. Work on first draft of legend typed #14 Times New Roman double spaced 
due Tuesday 22nd.
