Great Site - A Lot of Everything

This is a preschool - K web sight. She offers free file folder games,
learning centers, theme ideas, calendar stuff. She also sells CD's with more
of her "stuff" on them. I have been able to find alphabet, numbers, shapes,
and sight word things that were good and easy to use. Print on card stock,
cut and laminate. She also has a a "teaching ideas" place that has a few
good ideas.

This lady sells discovery bottles. The ones that interested me the most was:
ABC Discovery Bottle packet: Each packet contains one item representing each
letter of the alphabet. The buyer needs to put the items into a 1 liter soda
bottle and partially fill with sand or other appropriate material. An answer
key will be provided. The packet cost is $6.50 including mailing. And Chicka
Chicka Boom Boom shakers: Each shaker is made from a clean, recycled water
bottle. Inside is a palm tree with a climbing monkey. Ten consecutive ABC
letters are sprinkled with a pinch of confetti, some confetti palm trees
and/or confetti flamingos or tropical birds. This combination will make a
little noise, but not too much noise, when the children shake them. The
idea is that the child will use the shaker in rhythm with the teacher
reading the story. Repeat enough times and the children "read" and shake on
their own in a short time! At center time the children can use a shaker to
determine the letters inside. Some shakers will have letters in a pattern to
be discovered by the child. The shakers will arrive completely made and
sealed with a permanent glue. They're ready to use!!!

This is a great sight. It is loaded with teaching ideas. To quote her: "The
Virtual Vine is a resource for Early Childhood teachers, preschool through
second grade. It's a site filled with ideas and activities to make teaching
and learning FUN through themes and units, displays, literacy and math
connections."
Great Teaching Ideas
