Ms. Schlosser's 3rd Grade Class

Written homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. 

READING: The children are to read twenty minutes each night and to use "The Home Reading Record" for recording purposes.  Kindly initial and return this form the first day of each new week.

MATH: The children will have an Everyday Math Home Link that is a follow up to the day's lesson.

SPELLING: The children get new Spelling words the first day of every week.  They are to record their Spelling assignments in their Spelling Journal.
Monday: We preview the words together in class.  Alphabetical order- Please number your words and skip lines between them, in case you miss one.
   Group A:   7 words
   Group B:   14 words
   Group C:   18 words
Tuesday: The children should complete the sheet that is sent home with them.
Wednesday: Sentences- Use two words in each sentence. Please number your well-written sentences, skip lines between them, and underline your spelling words.
   Group A:   4 sentences (3 sentences with 2 spelling words and 1 sentence with 1)
   Group B:   7 sentences (2 spelling words per sentence)
   Group C:   9 sentences (2 spelling words per sentence)
*BONUS* I encourage the children to include some of their weekly vocabulary words into their sentences.
Thursday: Practice Test- Please give your child a practice test, correct and initial it.
   Group A: 7 words
   Group B: 14 words
   Group C: 18 words

LANGUAGE ARTS: The children get six vocabulary words the first day of each week.  Please do some of the "at home" suggestions throughout the course of the week.  The children will be quizzed on the words during their weekly spelling test.  I also encourage the children to use some or all of the vocabulary words in their weekly sentences.

SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES homework assignments and/or long-term projects will occur periodically.
