Thanks to everyone for their contributions to our Pot Luck Lunch. The children were very excited and enjoyed tasting all the different food items. We have written a book about the lunch, which will be coming home in the next few weeks. Valentine's Day is coming and we will be exchanging Valentine's on Tuesday, Feb.14. If you want your child to participate, please send in one for each child; we have 18 children.
We are working hard in reading, math and independent writing. We are learning about telling time on the quarter hour and continue with tally marks, counting by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's to 100. We will be continuing work on money and will start on quarters; we have been learning about tens and ones. We have also started writing our own adding number stories. You can practice these skills with your child at home by making up simple number stories such as: I have 3 cats. You have 2 dogs. Now I have ---. We also are learning subtraction stories. Children should also write the math number model- 3+2=5 or 5-3=2. Review counting before and after different numbers. Discussing ideas for Daily Journal at home would be helpful as well as well as correct forming of all letters and numbers.
