Students must read the following items:
1. Common Sense, by Thomas Paine
2. The Law, by Frederic Basiat
Both books are brief, very inexpensive, and readily available either for purchase, or at the library. It is recommended that students purchase copies in order to allow for annotation of the reading. Although the length of the assignment is short, the conceptual content is sophisticated. Proper attention to, and reflection upon, the ideas presented by these two authors will make your return to school more successful. Your understanding of the assigned readings will be assessed via a written test and an individual interview with me. I look forward to meeting with each of you this fall.
