Welcome to Kindergarten!
I am looking forward to meeting everyone on the first
day of school! We will have a fun exciting year and I can't wait to watch the
children grow and learn this year!
The following is some information that might be useful!
PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATION - Please remember that
communication is an important part of your child having a successful year.
Please feel free to contact me if you should have any questions or concerns
throughout the year. You can call me at school at 203-783-3537 or send me an
e-mail at cmusante@milforded.org.
Also you can send a note with your child. I am looking forward to a wonderful
school year!
OPEN HOUSE - A notice for open house will be sent home
to you in the first few days of school. Mr. Madancy will begin the evening
with a presentation followed by classroom presentations.
ORANGE TAKE HOME FOLDERS - The Take Home Folder
has been provided by the Orange Avenue School PTA. Your child will use this
folder to bring home any classroom notices, newsletters and student work.
Please check the folder every night and return it to school every day. Please
put any papers, as well as any notes for the teacher, lunch money, etc in this
folder when you return it to school the next day.
MONEY - Occasionally your child will need to bring money
to school (for lunch, book orders, book fair, field trips, etc.) When you send
money to school please place it in either a sealed envelope or a ziplock bag.
Please include the following on the front; Child's name, purpose (lunch),
teacher's name and room #.
ABSENCES - Daily attendance records are kept at school.
Please call the school office before school begins if your child will not be
in. Upon your child's return, please send in a note explaining the absence. If
a parent knows in advance that a child will be absent, a written note should
be presented prior to the absence. In all circumstances, a written note must
be submit even if the absence has been explained over the phone. Please refer
to the absentee policy in your school handbook.
CHANGE IN TRANSPORTATION - If there will be a change
in how your child will be going home or a different person picking your child
up, you must send in a written note. If I do not have a written note, I will
send your child home by his/her usual mode of transportation.
STUDENTS TAKING THE VAN - If your child takes the
van to school, please contact the bus company if you know your child will not
need transportation that day. Also, if someone other than a parent or guardian
is going to be getting your child off the bus please send a note in with your
child. We will make sure the bus company is aware of this change. They will
not let your child off the van without a parent or guardian present. (This
includes babysitters, please write a note with the babysitters name if they
will be getting your child off the van).
REST TIME - Each day the children will have 20 - 30
minutes of rest. The children may use this time to nap or relax. Your child
should have a towel or small blanket and a small pillow if they desire. Rest
towels will be sent home each Friday. Please wash and return them to school on
Monday.
SNACK - The children will have approximately 15 minutes
for snack each morning. This includes half days, early dismissals and delays.
Please send in a nutritious snack and drink each day. Your child may purchase
a snack and a drink from the lunch room as well. It is important for your
child to feel confident and independent during their school day. Please send
their snack in a container that they can open independently. It is also
important to show them and tell them each day what they are to eat for snack
and what foods are for lunch. This can be very confusing for them, especially
at the beginning of the year.
TOYS FROM HOME - Bringing toys from home is
discourages for many reasons. Toys may become lost or broken and can be
disruptive at times. Please remind your child to leave their toys at home.
Thank you in advance for your help! If you have any
questions or concerns throughout our school year please do not hesitate to
contact myself or your child's regular education teacher.
I look forward to meeting everyone on the first day of
school!
