| Welcome to First Grade!
Dear Parents,
I would like to welcome you to first grade! To ensure that this
school year goes as smoothly as possible, I would like to inform you of Room
A7’s classroom procedures.
Classroom Rules
Be Polite
Be Prepared
Be Productive
Our school day is filled with activities from the time the morning
bell rings until dismissal. Therefore, it is essential that all students be
on time. If a student is late, he/she must report directly to the office to
sign in. Please note that three tardies will equal one absence. If a child
is absent from school, a note stating the reason for absence will be
required.
When classroom rules are not followed, the following consequences may occur:
1. Warning – The student will receive a verbal warning.
2. Time Out – The student will receive a time out, which may include
deducting five minutes off his/her recess.
3. Time out of Recess, and/or phone call or note home – If disruption
continues to occur, the student will lose 10 minutes of recess privileges, and/or will get
a phone call home.
To enforce this policy, I have set up a behavior chart located in
the front of the room similar to a traffic light. All students begin each
day on “green,” illustrating good behavior. If the student becomes off-task
or disruptive, he/she will be moved to “yellow,” illustrating a warning.
Students will have the opportunity to redeem themselves if a correction in
their behavior is made. However, if the student should be “red,” the
student’s behavior is unacceptable for the classroom, resulting in loss of
recess and/or a call/note home. Encourage children to “Be Green!”
When the whole class exhibits good behavior (on “green”), they have
the opportunity to earn marbles. When the class had earned 100 marbles, they
will be rewarded a prize, such as a popcorn party, added center time/recess,
etc. We also have a Sun-Sational Work bulletin board - exceptional student
work will be recognized and posted on the front bulletin board.
If you should have any questions or concerns throughout the school
year, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Miss Kravet
