Moon Observations Begin!

Yesterday the Moon started a first Quarter. Tonight you will be observing the moon in the night sky, then drawing and writing about what you see. We will be keeping a Moon Journal and learning about moon phases. Can you match what you see in the sky with one of the images below?

Assignment: There is something else in the night sky. Look low in the sky and to the south. Can you identify what it is? Find more information at http://stardate.org, then look at the Stargazing Tip, Moon Phases, or Sky Almanac.
