The Circus Surprise
By Victoria
I was at the circus standing at the
food stand eating chips. I saw something move. It jumped out at me from under
the stairs. I was scared at first and I wanted to run away, but something made
me stop and take a closer look. I realized it was a monster. He winked and
smiled at me. He seemed friendly and playful. He was big and had big, bushy
rainbow colored hair, no ears and a big purple nose. He told me he needed a
home. He had been staying for a long time in the circus, and he was tired of
it. He asked if he could come home with me. I said I would let him, but I
asked him how I could get him home without anybody seeing him. He said he had
a way to shrink to the size of a mouse. I told him to do it. After I counted
to three he was the size of a mouse. I picked him up and put him in my pocket.
I took him home. I had to sneak him in my room. It was hard too because my
whole family was in the kitchen. He kept on jumping up and down, and my mom
came up because she heard a thumping noise. She almost saw him. She thought he
was a stuffed animal. I fooled my mom tonight, but I wonder what will happen
tomorrow. Will my mom catch him?
The Skateboarding Surprise
By Austin
My family and I were on the way to my sister’s softball game. I would rather
be going to the skate park. I remembered that I had my bike in the trunk. I
asked my dad if he would take me to the skate park instead of the softball
game. I was so happy when he said, “Yes!” My dad brought me to the skate park
in New Haven. I was riding down the flat ramp when I saw something strange
looking. I was a little scared because I never saw something like that before.
It was orange. It was about 4 feet tall. It looked like a monster. It had big,
black eyes, a blue triangle shaped nose, and a big smile. He had on a necklace
with rainbow colored beads. He was also wearing a lot of buttons. The monster
was on the skateboard and he went up the half-pipe. He did a tail whip and it
was so cool because he went in the air real high! Then he went down a mini
ramp and back up it. My dad and I thought it was amazing to see the friendly
monster do a tail whip. Then he took his skateboard and walked towards the
beach. This was a really fun day! I hope I see the monster again at the skate
park.
