“I can’t wait to go down the ramp!” I shouted. I put on my knee and
elbow pads and got out of the car. My mom and dad and I walked to the skate
park gate. We gave the man behind the counter ten dollars to let us in. The
skate park was as huge as a school room and as hot as the beach. It smelled
like rust and skidding from the skateboards. Kids were screaming all over
making up tricks. I felt the cold ground. It felt dry and rusty and a little
rocky. I walked over to the ramps. I noticed older kids than me skating
down. They were making up new tricks. “Dad,” I said walking over to him, “I
want to go down the ramp now.” “Ok” he said coming over to me. We saw the
ramp. “Cool!” I exclaimed. I stepped on to the ramp and started to go down.
I thought I was going to die! I went down and I crashed on the black top. I
rolled back and forth on the ground. I hurt my wrist going down, but it was
not broken because I had a wrist pad on. “Ouch!” I shouted. I stood back up
and got to the top of the ramp. One of the older boys told me when I go down
to put my weight in the front of the skateboard. I tried it and it worked!
Wow, I thought this is really fun! I was about to go down when my dad told me
“ When you go down, don’t stop on the ramp. When you go up, go down.” “Okay”
I said. I zoomed down, and when I got to the other side of the ramp I skated
down the other side backwards. This feels weird. I got back up and shouted
“Good idea, Dad, that was really fun!” I was feeling ready to skate. I
thought I was going to have such a great time skateboarding. I thought about
doing some tricks but I am a beginner, so I decided not to. “Hey Dad” I said,
“ I was to skate on the ground instead of the ramp.” “Okay, John” dad said.
I skateboarded all over and it was the best day ever!

Woo Hoo I just heard we were getting my new dog today! I was so glad
because my old dog ran away and the person who found her is talking good care
of her. I blushed because I was full of joy. My face was red and I jumped up
and down. I got dressed very quickly. I almost forgot to brush my teeth!!! I
thought I was the luckiest girl in the world. We jumped in the car. We were
on our way. When we stopped at the house, I asked my dad, “Are we here?”
“Yes,” said my dad. I was so thrilled I jumped up and down again. My brother
Alex was overjoyed because two days after my old dog ran away he wanted to get
a dog. Alex was about to open the door but my dad said no because there was a
doorbell. Finally we walked into the house. I was shocked there were so many
dogs. I thought there would be fewer dogs. I was feeling very excited. The
dog we picked has blond fur and brown eyes. She was as small as a small
shoebox. We named her Lola. I am so glad about my new dog Lola. Now she is
one year old and so cute. She is the prettiest pug alive!!!

“This is awesome!” I shouted on the top of my lungs. I had just gotten out
of the car and was staring down at the Grand Canyon. It seemed to be a mile
deep. The railing was as smooth as glass. If you listened closely you could
hear the quick sound of cameras clicking. The bright sun was burning hot even
though it was early February. I peered at the tan rock all the way down in the
canyon. I tried to stand up on a rock to see better and I stumbled little bit.
I almost fell onto my little brother. Maybe I should be more careful next time
I thought. Then I took out my disposable camera and looked around to find
something to take a picture of. I saw a giant cliff to the left of me. It was
tall and bumpy. That would be a good thing to take a picture of I thought. “
Hey Liam! Come look at this!” my brother called. I ran over to where he was
standing. He pointed to a black baseball cap hanging on a tree branch in the
canyon. I had a big smile on my face. I wonder how that person who lost that
baseball cap feels because I feel bad for them. “ Can you come over here?” Mom
asked my brother and I. We dashed over to her. She asked, “ Can I take a
picture?” I will always remember that day I went to the Grand Canyon. I hope I
get to visit the Grand Canyon again.
