Homework

Homework is important. In first grade, your child will have homework on
Monday-Thursday nights. Homework is designed to reinforce the things we are
learning in class. Therefore, it is important that your child completes
homework on the night that it is assigned.

At the beginning of each week, I will send home an assignment sheet for the
week. This sheet will list the assignments for each night, and include the
spelling words for the week. It helps to have an established routine for
completing homework. Ask your child to complete their work in a quiet place,
away from noise and distractions.

Homework assignments may include spelling and math practice sheets, which
reinforce the lessons that we work on in class. In addition, your child
should read for 10-15 minutes EVERY NIGHT. Your child will take home books
from our classroom library. During the second half of the year, there will be
a follow up activity to go along with these books.
