This is my 15th year at Orange Avenue School. (I can't believe it has been 15
years already!) I previously taught kindergarten and transitional classes. I
have been teaching first grade for the past four years and I love it!
I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. When I was young, I spent
hours "playing school." My most prized possession was a blackboard that my
grandfather gave to me for Christmas. As I got older, I worked with children
as a camp counselor and an assistant teacher. I went on to attend the
University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State University for my
college degrees. I have a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education
and a Master of Science as a Reading/Language Arts Specialist. In 1997, I was
a part of New York University's summer collaborative at Trinity College, part
of Oxford University in England. I also worked with 5-6 years olds in a
British primary school. In 2003, I became certified by the National Board of
Professional Teaching Standards.
While I was in England, I met my husband, Jamie. We have our new son, James,
who was born in August. He is the light of our lives!
