Orange Avenue families and students play an active role in our community. We often hold fundraisers and help other organizations and Milford families in need. Here's a list of some of our current activities.
Soda can pop tabs Yale Children's Hospital
Our school as an ongoing effort collects soda can pop tabs for donating to Yale Children's Hospital. The hospital then receives cash in exchange for recycling their many tons of pop tabs. Just tear off the pop tabs from your empty soda cans and send the tabs into school with your child. Please visit www.ronaldmcdonaldhouse.com/poptabs.html to see what great things the Ronald McDonald House has done with these pop tabs!Back to Top
At Thanksgiving time the students are encouraged to think of what they are thankful for and to also think about others who are in need. A collection of non-perishable foods and items are collected in the lobby the week before Thanksgiving and then baskets are assembled and distributed to Orange Avenue families and the Milford community.Back to Top
There are various activities throughout the year that involve the students visiting residents at the Mediplex Convalescent Center across the street from the school. A long line of the children in costume parades through the building bringing smiles to many of them (both the children and the residents) during our storybook character day, traditionally held during Oct. 31st week. OAS strives to maintain a partnership with the West River Health Care community.Back to Top
