How many books can the students borrow?

Our students have been working very hard at responsible book care. Students
in Grades K and 1 are currently borrowing 1-2 books each time they visit the
media center.
Students in Grades 2-3 may borrow 2 books.
Students in Grades 4-5 may typically borrow up to 3 books.
If a student would like to borrow an additional book, they should ask Mrs.
Pellegrino and explain their need. We want to make sure that all students
are able to enjoy and use our books.

Can students renew books they have not finished?

Absolutely! Please bring the book back to the library on the day your class
visits and we will renew it for you. We ask only that you be considerate of
your classmates and not keep the book for longer than you need it.

Suspension of book privileges.

It is very important that students return the books they borrow so that
other students and teachers can have access to them. We have sent notes
home to all students with books more than 45 days overdue informing them
that book borrowing privileges will be suspended until the book is returned,
replaced, or paid for.

Our magazine collection.

The Orchard Hills Media Center has a wonderful collection of magazines for
student use. These include: Highlights, BoysLife, Cat Fancy, Dog Fancy,
National Geographic for Kids, My Big Backyard, Sports Illustrated for Kids,
Odyssey, Dirt Bike, Road & Track, Cobblestone, Nick, Zoobooks, Discovery
Girls, Disney Adventures and many, many others! We encourage the students
to borrow a magazine in addition to a book in order to encourage voluntary
pleasure reading.
