As we head into the holiday season and activities both at school and home kick into high gear, I am very much looking forward to the coming holidays. This year in particular I have a lot to be thankful for, both personally and as a PTA president. With a few months behind us, a fundraiser, many great family activities enjoyed, and some new things happening at OHS, it is a nice time to take inventory of the year.The New Year, which amazingly is right around the corner, will bring the opportunity to make resolutions and how could that be done with out some reflection?

 A lot of great things have been happening at OHS. Through our fall fundraiser, even in this economy, we earned $5,000.00. Thank you to all who participated. Our family activities have been successful as well, all together bringing in about $ 5,000.00.With the help of many volunteers, we have had fun family events including Harvest Fest and Monster Mash. This year we have had more volunteers than ever; it seems like everyone has pitched in and helped out. Many thanks to you for volunteering, your time is appreciated. Along with our long time favorites we have added a few activities to the list.This year we are offering a drama club at OHS and the production is already creating quite a buzz. We have over forty children signed up to participate and many parents signed up to help.In addition, we are now offering Spirit Gear. Show your school spirit and support your school by purchasing a spirit gear item. Water bottles, pencil cases, car clings, and bracelets will be available for sale at all PTA meetings and in the school store. The store is open Monday and Friday at 8:40am.

 As we head into 2010, you will see the momentum of the PTA continue. There are Fine Arts programs being planned, TV turn off activities in the works, a Hot Topic series being scheduled, and a fifth grade Up and Out to be planned. That’s not all! This year we will be marching as a school in the Milford St Patrick’s Day parade. Look for a flyer to come out in the New Year. We will need help building a float and marching. In order to keep everyone in the communication loop, and as requested, we are now posting our PTA minutes online.
