Reading

We have been enjoying reading and writing biographies and learning about many
interesting people! The lessons about biographies are part of a unit on
understanding the difference between expository (nonfiction) and narrative
(fiction) writing. The children will learn the elements of various genres and
will use that knowledge in their writing as well.  The biographies the
children are writing will be ready for publishing soon, and your child will be
bringing home a copy to share with their special person!

Writing

We continue working on adding details and voice to our stories so that they
serve a purpose - entertaining or informing the reader.  We are also cracking
down on our spelling and learning strategies to recognize and correct
misspelled words in our stories.

We are reviewing area, fractions, and all we have learned this year so we can
be prepared for math in third grade!
