Room 9 students typically receive the following homework, Monday-Thursday:
1. Math worksheet
2. Spelling worksheet (3x each on Thursdays)
3. Reading at Home Minutes (at least 10 minutes). Reading minutes are due back
every Monday.
In addition to the nightly homework, Room 9 students should practice math
facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and spelling words.
All assignments/reminders will be posted on the board. It is the students
responsibility to record the assignments each day. Please check your child's
assignment pad daily.
Other Information:
Homework provides review and practice of what is learned throughout the day.
It also helps students gain a sense of responsibility by remembering to bring
it home, finish it, and return it to school each day. Additionally, it is
used as a communication tool so that parents are aware of what concepts are
being taught in school.
Homework should be done independently and parents can check the work once it's
completed. Remind your child to check their work carefully! If your child
struggles with an assignment, try your best to help them and write a short
note on the assignment. I will review the skills the following day in class.
The consequence for not handing in an assignment/project on time is a warning
on the Warning Chart. I will contact parents if a student is consistently
missing assignments. Missing assignments/projects will also be reflected on a
student's report card. If a student leaves a homework assignment at home,
they should bring it in the following school day. If they have forgotten their
work in school, they may complete it during snack time/other free time during
the day.
