How can I find out about school cancellations, delays, and time changes?
Log on to the Internet to site http://www.milforded.org.
or
Call the Milford Board of Ed at 783-3400 for a recorded message after 6:15am.
Listen to your local radio stations (WICC, WEZN, WAVZ, and WPLR) and/or
television newscasts (WTNH-TV, WVIT-TV, or Channel 12 News). Announcements
will be made on these stations beginning at 6:00 a.m. and repeated every 15
minutes. Please avoid calling the school office for school closing
information. The school telephone lines need to be kept open for
emergencies.
Delayed opening times are as follows:
· Kindergarten – grade 5 10:25 a.m.
Scheduled early dismissal times are:
· Kindergarten – grade 5 1:25 p.m.
Unscheduled early dismissal times are:
· Kindergarten – grade 5 1:25 p.m.

What if my child forgot his/her homework, lunch, snack etc. at home?
Bring the item to the main office. Your child will be instructed to get the
forgotten item when it’s convenient for the classroom teacher. Do not bring
the item to the classroom yourself.
Children are allowed to use the office telephone if they forget their lunch,
snack, house key or other emergencies. They are not allowed to call home
for forgotten homework, musical instruments or to arrange play dates.

Who can ride the bus?
Bus transportation is limited to the students that live on the bus routes.
Busing is determined by street address and the distance from the school.
Durham Bus Company does not provide courtesy rides. Call the school to see
if your child is eligible for bus transportation.

Do I have to report my child's absence?
Call the school to report your child’s absence. Please give your child’s
name and the reason for the absence. On the day your child returns to
school, you must send a note explaining the absence.

What if my child has a different dismissal procedure?
If you know ahead of time that you’ll be picking up your child early,
send a note in with your child letting us know what time you’re coming. If
you need to pick your child up due to an unforeseen circumstance, call the
school so we can notify your child’s teacher. The children will be called
to the office upon your arrival. You must sign your child out in the main
office.
If your child is going to a friend's house after school, you need to
send your child to school with a note informing the teacher of the change in
dismissal. Children are not allowed to ride different buses for play
dates.

How can I contact my child's teacher?
Call the school and let the office know that you need to talk to or set-up
an appointment with your child’s teacher. The teacher will return your call
as soon as possible.

How can I keep informed about what’s going on at Pumpkin Delight School?
Parent Newsletter: Every Friday we send home a Parent Newsletter with the
students. This is to inform you of things coming up in the near future.
Monthly Calendar: At the beginning of each month we publish a monthly
calendar on brightly colored paper. This calendar lets you know of all
upcoming activities and events for the month.
Pumpkin Delight School Web Site: Visit our web site to find out what’s
going on in the school. You can access us through the Milford Board of
Education web site.

Who do I speak to regarding my child’s lunch account?
The person in charge of our cafeteria is Mrs. Moran. She can be reached at
783-3611.

Why do I get the voice mail when I’m trying to call the school?
Pumpkin Delight School has two in-coming phone lines. When both of these
lines are being used the voice mail automatically picks up the call. Voice
mail messages are checked frequently so please leave your message.

How do I request homework if my child is absent?
Homework pick-up is arranged through the main office. When you are calling
in your child’s absence, please let us know at this time that you are
requesting homework. Homework can be picked up at the office after
dismissal time or can be sent home with another student. Homework requests
made after lunchtime are not guaranteed.

Where can I park at Pumpkin Delight School?
You can park at Pumpkin Delight either on the street in designated parking
areas only or in the visitor parking lot at the end of Art Street past the
school. There is no visitor parking allowed anywhere in the main parking
lot. This space is reserved for staff only.
