What should my child bring for snack?

Snacks should be simple and healthy. Please do not send in candy or soda.
Fruit, raw vegetables, graham crackers, yogurt, and crackers are just a few
samples of a good snacks. Please do not send in more than one snack because
the children do not always eat all of their lunch.

Should I write my child's name on their personal items?

Please write your child's name on their backpack and lunch box. It would be
great if their name is on the inside of their clothing too. Children like to
have many of the popular items and they can get mixed up so a name is a great
way to avoid that happening.

What should I send in for rest time?

I have small pillows that I supply for each child. You may send in either a
a towel or a small fleece blanket for rest time. Please put it in a plastic
bag with your child's name on the outside of the bag and on the item in it. I
will send home the rest material every other week for washing along with the
pillow you child uses.

What do I do when it is my child's birthday?

Because of the risk of a food allergy reaction, we do not have food sent in
for any celebrations. You can send in stickers, pencils or any other item for
a birthday treat. Please make it simple. We do sing "Happy Birthday" and
celebrate the birthday as a special day for your child.

Should I send in a change of clothing?

It is possible that your child can have an accident at the beginning of school
so you can put a simple change of clothing in their backpacks if you think
this can happen.

--------------------------------------

What should I do if my child is not going home the usual way?

A note should be place in your child's "Take Home Folder" informing the school
of any change. This is very important because without a note we cannot take
the word of your child.

How do I get information to the school?

Your child will be given a "Take Home Folder" with their name on it. This
will be sent home every day and will contain some of the daily work we do and
any note that may need to be sent home. You can also send notes in to the
school. It will be checked first thing each morning

Can my child bring in toys to school?

Please and I do mean please do not let your child bring in any electronic toys
or toys of any kind other than the small stuffed animal for rest time. I do
not want to be responsible for breakage or lost items or sad faces and tears.
 Thank you for understanding.

Does my child have recess?

We will go outside everyday weather permitting and even in winter. Please
dress your child accordingly. In winter, make sure your child has mittens or
gloves, a hat, and a scarf if you think it is necessary. I do have extra
gloves if someone forgets theirs at home.

How should I dress my child for the classroom?

Dress your child in comfortable clothing. Layer dressing is the best as our
seasons change. In spring, summer and fall, mornings can be cool and your
child may need a sweater or a sweatshirt but afternoons can be warm and they
can remove it. During the winter the classrooms can be warm in the morning
and cool off as the day goes on so having layered clothing is a good choice
too (ex. a t-shirt under a sweater).
