Fun with New Words –
Lesson 19    Off We Go

Slime

Slime is something that is
thick and wet. It can cover a surface or
it can come out of the body of an animal like a snail.

Ask your child to tell about a place where she or he
has seen slime.

Slither

To slither means to slide
along in a wiggly way.

Ask your child to show you how she or he can slither.

Hatch

To hatch means to be born
by breaking out of an egg.

Help your child name some animals that hatch. Look for these animals in books or magazines.

Eager

If you are eager for
something you want it so much you can hardly wait.

Encourage your child to tell you about something that
he or she is eager to do.

Haven

A haven is a place where
people or animals feel safe and happy.

Ask your child to tell what would make a haven for him
or her. Then share your ideas of a good
haven.
