AboutUs.jpgRogers International School, originally the International School at Rogers Magnet, is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School with students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  The school offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).  In 2007, the International School at Rogers Magnet received the Lone Pine First Annual Fairfield Academic Gain Award.
 
Rogers International School is a “six- to-six” interdistrict magnet school with before and after school programs beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. The school provides the learning experiences for approximately 850 students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

Our Principal

Cathleen Cummings, Principal of the Rogers International School, came to Rogers in July of 2000.   After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, she began her career as a teacher in Newport, RI and later Stamford. She holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University with a concentration in Gifted and Talented as well as Sixth Year degree in Administration and Supervision from Fairfield University.
 
In February 2004, Rogers became authorized as a World School by the IBO. As part of the authorization process, Ms. Cummings received extensive training in the Primary Years Program from the IBA. This included workshops in inquiry, assessment, literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies. Today she continues her pursuit of having all Rogers' students adhere to the IB principles.

In June of 2012, Mr. Brendan Fox was appointed the Assistant Principal of Rogers International School.  Mr. Fox comes to RIS from Turn of River Middle School where he was the Assistant Principal.  Prior to his tenure at Turn of River, he was the Project Manager for the GE Developing Futures Grant for the Stamford Public Schools. Mr. Fox also taught for a number of years and held various teaching positions at Dolan Middle School as well as private and international schools.  

Mr. Fox is a Stamford native and graduate of Westhill High School.  He graduated from Saint Michael’s College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.  Mr. Fox earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport and a 6th year degree in Education Leadership from UCONN’s Neag School of Education. Most recently, Mr. Fox completed the Urban School Leaders Fellowship with the Connecticut Center of School change.  

Mr. Fox is looking forward to becoming a member of the RIS community!
 




 ROSCCO

ROSCCO provides before and after school activities programs for Rogers Magnet from 6:00am to 6:00pm. The mission is to address the need for safe, structured, affordable, and quality programs for families and their children.  ROSCCO offers quality school age programs designed to meet the needs of working parents by providing a safe and stimulating environment for their children.  The before and after school activity programs utilize the gyms, cafeterias, outdoor playgrounds and other facilities in the schools. Children are accepted monthly on a pre-registered, prepaid basis.  New participants can be added during the payment cycle using a prorated fee scale.  Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Participation is determined by space availability.
 
ROSCCO’S Before School Programs
Before school activity programs begin at 6:00am at RIS and run until the start of the school day. Programs run Monday through Friday according to the Stamford Public School calendar. The program does not operate when school is not in session. Activities include: indoor and outdoor play, table games, arts & crafts, story time and a breakfast snack.  Before school program registration is on a monthly basis for five days per week.

The ROSCCO after school activities programs begin at school dismissal and run until 6:00pm at RIS. Programs run Monday through Friday according to the Stamford Public School calendar.  The programs do not operate when school is not in session. Activities include: a daily snack, supervised homework time, aerobics, arts & crafts, chess, cooking projects, dance/music (culminating in an annual show), movies, outdoor play, physical games, science projects, story time and table games.  The after school program registration is on a monthly basis for a predetermined schedule of either three, four, or five days per week.
 
ROSCCO offers after school activity programs to the same schools above that offer before school programs.  Contact Information and Office Hours:  9:30 AM - 5:30 PM

After School Chess Club
The after school Chess Club is sponsored by the PTO. Chess Club is open to children in grades 1-5. There is a beginner and an advanced section as well as opportunity for competitive play. The sections are led by instructors from the National Scholastic Chess Federation.  Fall, Winter and Spring sessions are offered for a fee.  There are scholarships available.
