How will my child get to and from school?
Buses are provided to Stamford residents living more than a mile from the school building. All students eligible for buses are encouraged to take advantage of this service in support our status as a "green" school.There is currently no bus service for our out of Stamford families. Therefore, we encourage carpooling. Please check the directory for other RIS families living near you. A daily stipend is available to our out of Stamford families through the state transportation grant. You will be contacted after October 1st to enroll in this program.As always, if you are in walking distance, we encourage this! It supports the IB Learner Profile of being balanced!Back to Top
What are the before and after school program hours and who facilitates it?
ROSCCO provides before and after school care beginning at 6:00am and running through 6:00pm. This a fee-based program available Mondays-Fridays. Please see "About Rogers" on this website for more information.RIS also offers before and after school enrichment and intervention programs. Catalogues are sent out three (3) times a year.Back to Top
Can my child buy lunch at school?

What do I do when I need to pick up my child early?
Parents must check in with the office when picking up a child early. The office staff will call your child down to the office for dismissal when you arrive.Back to Top
What if my child is late for school?
All children late for school must check in with the office and obtain a late pass before going to their classroom.Back to Top
What if my child is going to be absent?
For short term absences (ie. your child is sick) to be excused, parents must write a note of explanation.Absenses, without a note, will be considered an "unexcused."Extended absenses should be discussed with the principal.Back to Top
What happens if my family moves?

How is the Lower School different from the Upper School?
The Lower School includes grades K-4 and follows the IB Primary Years Program standards.The Upper School will grow to include grades 5-8 by the school year 2011-2012 and follows the IB Middle Years Program standards.Back to Top
How does a child apply for entrance into RIS?

Do I need to send snacks with my child to school?
Your child's homeroom teacher will make that request as needed. Snacks sent to school are encouraged to be healthy, which might include fruit and vegetables, pretzels and non-sugary treats.Back to Top
What happens if my child gets sick at school?
RIS has a full time nurse on staff and a part time dental hygienist. The nurse will contact parents if a child needs to go home due to illness.Back to Top
