Mrs. Mlynek's Homework Policy
 

  Mrs. Mlynek has assigned for all classes:                                 
Every evening of regular classes, students will:
                   1. reread any text pagescovered that day,
                           at least twice, using reader's strategies, and

                   2. MEMORIZE any
definitions and important concepts.


                    3.  clarify for student use all notes given. 
                                 Again, all key concepts 
shall be memorized.

                              4. formulate questions if a student has any difficulty with any of the
ideas presented.  It is the student's responsibilty to do so, and questions should be
 asked at the next class in that subject.
 
         On ensuing evenings, all the previous material shall be
reviewed nightly until tested.


               This homework is in addition to, and  irregardless of, any other work assigned.

Wed.    May 22         Tx. p219, copy trace or download from internet diagram of endocrine system.  Study the first 4 (left side of picture --3 glands, top 1)   Study these 4.  Memorize. Then, on the diagram, label glands and descriptions on diagram from memory.
Thurs.   5/23      Reproduce illustration of endocrine system.  Add 3 more glands  (after study) from right side of p.219,                    Have punnet project finished and ready for collection if not already in. 

                           Then rvw. 4 from yesterday.  Add labels and descriptionsfrom memory.  Check your work.   


Friday,  May 24  Visit Building BIG bridges site.  Notes on 4 types of bridges beam/ truss/arch/suspension with key terms. 
This will be an application question on your final and a STEM project/lab.

Thurs                   Essay from back page of quiz.  Practice for final essay.  Will go over tomorrow.  p. 616, 617, notes: the inner and outer planets form.  Explanation of how outer planets became large, gaseous and with many moons.  Connect this result with 
nebular hypothesis.  Have individual Punnett pet ready for STEM.

                                      crosses worked on with your team (all 4), with your initials next to the trait on each Punnett square that belongs to
                                      your own personal Punnett grand pet. 3. A colored picture showing all 4 phenotypes on  personal  Punnett pet. 
                                     ( should look like others except for differences in traits), a LIST of each phenotype, a list of 4 genotypes with ID
                                      Team should be prepared to present F-1 pet.

                                        plus info from "Cells Alive"  cell wall, cell membrane, nuclear envelope  each 3x
                                        Include- description, location, functions, composition, features.  Also memorize 
                                        "new" organelles: peroxisomes, lysosomes, secretory vesicles.

Thursday                        Cytoskeleton is your organelle of the day.  Those who had not memorized yestrday's work will write my expectations twice.  Nightly memorization is essential. I only gave you 3 a night!  If you do the headwork, you won't have the written work.You should be planning the logistics of your edible cell, ingredients, attachments, key, knowledge. Due next week.

Friday, 5/3 Since only 2 of you knew the necessary facts about DNA, given as homework to memorize the week of April 18, you all (except 2) are assigned to write my homework policy, word for word, over the weekend: due Monday.  If time Monday, there will be a homework check on the cell, so far. Not done, so, be ready any time we get.

Study notes on biomes taken in class today.  Remember both partners need to know all info.  Make sure you take notes on each resource, book or internet,
 you use.

Wed.  5/22         Determine how to represent numerical data mathematically  eg. thermometer, using graph paper/ precipitation, pressure, depth, humidity, etc.
You may use line graphs, bar graphs, pie graphs, picture graphs where appropriate.
You may use standard or non-standard display. QED.

Thurs. 5/23      Continue work on biome project.  Be ready to work on it in STEM
                           Bring any materials you want to work on and with.  I do not supply scissors, glue etc.

Thursday           I gave general directions for biome project, including some websites.  Start your 
                         research.  Remember to list the name and the "address" of the sites you find useful
                        in your notes.  You will need them for your Resources page for your biome project.

                        Project.  Reread your myth. When you are familiar with the story,  write  the  myth  you have read about, in your own words.  Give it a title.  Tell what culture or country the myth comes from.

READING LOG for each session, giving the DAY, DATE and TIME spent. are

precis of the content> Occasionally< the teacher will replace the sentences
with a specific assignment>
