Mrs. Goncalves 2nd Grade (B)

Our second grade year is off to a wonderful start.The children have all settled into the new
routine nicely and are beginning to learn to become more independent each day!

Each morning they are doing better with DRE..drop everything and read.  We silently  read
almost fifteen minutes each day. When they finish a book they fill in a star worthy book and it gets hung up. They are excited to see how many books they can read. The stars ask them what makes the book star worthy. The beginning of learning to do a book report.

In Math we continue to work with number facts in different ways. Please review these facts with your child Many are still having a hard time with them.

I have read them Going,Going,Gone with the Pain and The Great One By: Judy Blume we
will do our first book report together this week.
This week we also begin to read Flat Stanley. When we are done everyone will make their own and send them out. As we get closer information will come home.
