THE SPANISH FAIR!!!
Who: Students in Grades 3-8
What: The Spanish Fair
When: Wed. March 21st- all school day long….
Where: St. Joseph’s School Gym
Why: To learn something new about a Spanish speaking country, and to share it as a group.
The Assignment
Grades 3 through 8 will be required to research one of the following topics: Music, History, Pop -Culture, Sports, Language, Flags, Food, Customs or another approved topic of choice, on a native Spanish speaking country. Examples: Mexico, Spain, Panama, Peru, Guatemala, Chile, Paraguay, etc.
Part 1- Written Assignment
Grades 3 and 4 will write one paragraph, summarizing what they have learned about the chosen topic of their country. It may be hand written or typed. Each student must hand in a written assignment. PART 1 should be completed at home.
Grades 5-8 will write one page, summarizing what they have learned about the chosen topic of their country. It may be hand written or typed. Each student must hand in a written assignment. PART 1 should be completed at home.
Part 2- Presentation- Grades 3-8
Using material brought to class (ie. Poster board, markers, glue, glitter, foam letters, printouts from the computer, props etc.) Students will design a poster board/display to go with their research topic and country. PART 2 WILL BE DONE IN CLASS. You may work alone, with a friend, or in a group, as this part will be monitored in class. However, each student must contribute to the display.
NOTE: Sections 1 and 2 will be graded separately.
ALL MATERIALS FOR THE PRESENTATION PART ARE DUE IN CLASS BY MARCH 1ST
