About The Teacher

I love working at Sherman School! It has a wonderful staff, and I get to
teach a variety of sensational students and subjects. On a daily basis
I'm learning from my students and colleagues. It is definitely inspiring and
invigorating. Hopefully, this school year will be challenging and fun for
all of us!
I am certified to teach in Regular Ed. and Special Ed. in both
Connecticut and New York State. I most enjoy school and family
activities. Spending time with family and friends by the Gulf of Mexico in
Venice Florida or on the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Cod or Long Beach Island.
Reading anywhere, writing anything, surfing the Internet to see what other
educators are doing around the world, along with swimming in the Gulf of
Mexico at sunset are among my very favorite pastimes. I also love to sing and
dance!
I come from a very large family. My two big brothers are Tom and John,
and my two "older" sisters are Margie and Anne. They are the "In-laws". The
"Outlaws" are Anna, Phil, Tom, and Jimmy who keep us laughing and grounded. I
have 17 nieces and nephews, and 28 great nieces and great nephews.
Bob McEvoy is my best friend and husband. I have been blessed with three
wonderful kids(young adults) Mike, Dan, and Katy. Ashley Young McEvoy is Dan's
wife, and is like my second daughter! My family also includes our little
buddy, Mackenzie,our dog.
As you can see, my family and teaching are my life's passions, and I'm
lucky to spend each day doing what I love best with those I love most.

Some of my favorite quotes are:

"Education is the most powerful weapon which (I) you can use to change the
world." -- Nelson Mandela

"Children are our nation's greatest resource and best hope for its future."
-- John F. Kennedy

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Behold the turtle: He makes progress only when he sticks his head out."--
James Bryant Conent

"Happiness follows simplicity." Irish Proverb
