Homework

Homework Policy:
All students are expected to bring in their homework DAILY. They write down their assignments in their assingment pads. I sticker them to show that I saw it.   It is up to the student to make sure they have all necessary materials to complete each night's work.   I expect a parent/guardian to initial the notebook anywhere on the page. This is a good place to write any notes because I check their notebooks each morning.

Homework is IMPORTANT to their grades. If 3 or more are missed it will begin to lower their letter grade.

OOPS Forms: When students do forget their assignments, they will be given an OOPS form.   These are to be signed by the teacher, student, and parent. They are to be returned to school and kept in the student's file, so I can keep track of them. Hopefully, no student makes a habit of this.

Nightly Homework:

Note: Spelling words can differ for each child. If the child gets 100 percent on their pretest they will be asked to learn challenge words. These are difficult and will only be a bonus grade, they already got the A for the test.

Mondays: ABC Order of spelling words and the math skill we worked on that day
Tuesdays: Write the first 7 spelling words in sentences and the math skill we worked on that day
Wednesdays: Write the last 8 words in sentences and the math skill we worked on that day
Thursdays: Write the words 3 times each to help study for spelling test and the math skill we worked on that day
Fridays: None, return weekly reading log on Monday
Note:   Some days there is no math homework for various reasons, so the students might have a short reading passage with comprehension questions.
Also, from time to time, Science or Social Studies might be given in place of the spelling.

Weekly Reading Log:   Each Monday students are required to bring in their reading log. They will fill out the date, title they read, and parents will initial them each night. I only collect it the following Monday. These can stay home all week as a reminder, but they must be returned at the start of the week. If you need an extra one click here

No Homework Passes: Students may earn a NO HOMEWORK PASS for different reasons. They are to be used on one night's math and spelling. They are not be used on their Reading Log or a project. They must hand in the pass because it gets ripped to indicate it was used already.
