Week of December 21, 2009
Classroom News:
•In Reader’s Workshop, we will read some holiday stories and think about the
traits of the characters in these stories.
•In Writer’s Workshop, we will continue our unit on writing conventions. So
far, we have learned the rules for spaces, capital letters, lower case letters
and end marks.
•In math, we will continue our second unit on addition, subtraction and the
number system.
•We will learn about holiday traditions this week.
School News:
•This Wednesday, December 23rd, is an early release day for students.
Dismissal is at 1:25. This will be the start of the holiday vacation. School
will reopen on January 4, 2010.
•We will continue to go outside for recess when the temperature is above 32
degrees. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather. Also, if your child can practice getting himself or herself dressed
in winter gear it would help us to get outside more quickly in the afternoons.
