Milford has been named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People, in
part, because of its emphasis on teaching"life skills" to all youth. Each high
school has a "life skills" program. Simon Lake participates in Junior
Achievement, a career development program, partially funded by Milford's
promise, the United Way, Rotary Club, local businesses and state legislative
delegation. The YMCA and Milford's Promise have also implemented after school
programs based on the principles of team building and respect, skills that are
integral to future success.Milford was also recognized for its growing Youth
Network, which fosters which fosters communication and partnerships among the
