Cell Phones, Beepers, and Electronic Devices Policy (including
Video Games)
The following is from the Milford Public Schools Board of
Education Policy (5131.81) in regards to the use of cell phones, beepers, and
electronic devices by students in school. The legal reference for this is PA
95-304, An Act Concerning School Safety and PA 96-108 Concerning Student Use
of Telecommunication Devices.
"Students shall not possess or use a remotely
activated paging device or cellular telephone while on school property or on
school transportation."
"A staff member who discovers a student in possession of a
paging device or cellular telephone without written permission of the
principal shall report the violation to a school administrator who shall
confiscate the device and contact the parent/guardian. The initial
violation and repeated violation of this policy shall be treated in accordance
with the school's discipline code and may result in suspension or expulsion."
"The principal shall consider the special needs of parents and
students in determining whether to restrict student possession or use of
cellular telephones."
In additon, students are not allowed to bring in electronic
devices, including video games.
