Mr. Woodcock has been at St. Rose School since 2001. As the upper grade math
teacher he has continued to strive for better computational scores, and
stronger math backgrounds amongst his students. His 8th Grade class studies
an Algebra 1 curriculum, and has had much success with the intensely driven
course. 7th Grade students that take Mr. Woodcock's class, prepare for their
8th Grade year, by following a full year of Pre-Algebra and Geometry skills
and techniques. The 6th Grade curriculum is one that mirrors many 7th Grade
curriculums from other schools.
Mr. Woodcock is an advid New York Yankees Fan! He enjoys and welcomes all
conversations, discussions, trivia, and interesting facts regarding the
history of the Yankees. He understands that there are many other teams out
there, and that it is even possible for some students to like these teams
over the Yankees. Mr. Woodcock believes in having an open classroom, where
students can feel free to have their own favorites, that is unless the
Yankees are out of the playoffs!!
Mr. Woodcock believes in making Math practical. Having students understand
not only the computation of facts, but the understanding of what, when, where
and how to use the basics, and the more extensive works of Algebra. Students
who leave Mr. Woodcock at the end of their 8th Grade year, are more than well
prepared for the advanced High School level Math classes, and many have
placed out of Freshman level courses.
