We are continuing to build good,reliable routines and procedures and develop
strong study skills and
organizational habits.
In Mathematics, we are continuing our work on Chapter 1, working with whole
numbers.
In Language Arts we are working on differences between fiction and
non-fiction using our Literature anthology to guide skill development. We
will write on the age-old topic, "What I did during summer vacation" to get
an idea of each student's approach to writing so that we can individualize
instruction effectively. We will start our study of Vocabulary with unit 1
and give the first quiz Friday, September 5.
In Religion, we will read about the story of Creation, Chapter 1. The first
quiz will be September 9.
In Science we are working on Unit E, the Building Blocks of Matter. We will
have our first lab activities on Thursday, Sept. 4. Each child needs to
bring one apple of any kind for that activity. We are using the units of
the science book out of order to help the children with some of the
vocabulary and scientific principles that will help them with the Invention
Convention and the Science Fair.
