Aesop- Aesop's Fables
Allard, Harry- Miss Nelson Is Missing
Brett, Jan - The Mitten; Annie and the Wild Animals  Note of Interest:  
The Jan Brett books have beautiful pictures and stories from real life 
experiences, which she shares with you on her web site.  You not only 
receive cross-curricular activities but a background on how and why she 
wrote some of her books.  Click on the title of each book and you will get 
this information along with activities.  Through this site the children can 
see how the author came up with her story ideas, which could inspire your 
child to write!  Look at the side pictures throughout the Jan Brett 
stories.  Have your child decide what these pictures are telling about the 
story.

Cherry, Lynne - The Great Kapok Tree (a tale of the Amazon Rain 
                Forest with a conservative message)
