Field Trip to NYC is Wednesday. Please be at the school by 7:15 Students may bring a backpack with a healthy snack, reading book, playing cards, etc. No cell phones, IPods, digital cameras, personal DVD players, etc. allowed. Students who bring the above item will receive in-school suspension. Please pick your child up at the school at 6:15 p.m. NO LATER!
Because we are in the midst of the second phase of construction, all students are reminded not to open the doors for anyone. Also, parent volunteers are reminded to wear their VIRTUS badges at all times when on school property. Students who see an individual not wearing a guest pass or a VIRTUS badge should alert a teacher or administrator immediately. Thank you.
Homeroom Rules, Policies, and Guidelines
- Please arrive promptly by 7:55 and meet with the rest of the student body down at the Hall. When you are called, please line up with the Grade 6 students and wait for one of the homeroom teachers to escort you into the school building.
- If you are arriving early for extra help or a meeting with a teacher, report to the main entrance, go to the office to have the teacher paged, and wait for the teacher to meet you in the hallway. Never go into a teacher’s classroom if the teacher is not present. You may not “hang out” in the hallways or visit you lockers before school hours begin.
- Please bring all notes to the homeroom teacher before going to your locker. Go to your lockers silently and quickly. Put away the materials from the previous night that you don’t need and gather your materials for your first 2-3 classes. Leave your backpack and lunch in your locker. Make sure you are back in homeroom by the start of announcements.
- If you arrive later than 8:05, report directly to the main office to retain a tardy slip from the secretary. Afterwards, report to homeroom to show your homeroom teacher the tardy slip and then you may go to your locker to unpack. Remember to bring your tardy slip to your first period class if necessary.
- If you are tardy 3 or more times in a two week period, you will be given a conduct referral which immediately affects your High Honor/Honor roll Status.
- Lockers should be tidy and organized at all times. Time in between classes is short, so you should be able to put away and gather your materials quickly. You will not be permitted to return to your locker once a class begins. During the first few weeks of school, 6th graders will not be penalized for being slightly late to class.
- Students will be given certain duties to perform on a weekly basis to maintain the organization of the classroom. Students should check the board every Monday morning to see if they have a job to perform that day/week.
- At the end of 8th period, return to your lockers, look in your assignment pad, and take home any materials that you need for that night’s homework. This should be done quickly and quietly. Once you have packed and gathered your belongings, return immediately to the homeroom classroom. You should be back in the lab by the time announcements begin. Please do not bring home any books or materials that are unnecessary for that night.
- Afternoon dismissal time is to be absolutely silent so that students may hear their buses called, so students can hear announcements about activities, etc. Students are to remain in their seats until they are dismissed. If a student is staying after school, they must have a note and they should wait until “after school club” is called to leave the room. Students may not wader the halls or enter another classroom if there is no teacher present.
- Friday mornings before Mass, the homeroom will have an Advisory period. These Advisory meetings will consist of a variety of activities including learning study and organizational skills, discussion of school policies, homeroom “projects”, one-on-one meetings with a homeroom Advisor, team-building activities, etc. Students should have a 1 subject notebook for their Advisory sessions.
- Friday Mass attire is extremely important. Gentlemen must wear long pants (even during Fall and Spring months) with a belt and the uniform shirt. Blazers are also optional for gentlemen on Fridays. Ladies may wear the white uniform blouse with long pants, skirt, or skort(only in Spring). Please check the Student Handbook for further uniform guidelines.
- Bullying is very serious and will not be tolerated at St. Rose of Lima School in any form. If you are a victim of bullying or a witness of bullying, please report it by telling a teacher or administrator or by writing an anonymous note and dropping it in the homeroom in-box.
Parents who wish to volunteer to be homeroom parents should contact Mrs. Faucher through email at faucher@stroseschool.com as soon as possible. At least two volunteers are needed. Thank you in advance for your support!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the homeroom teachers.
We are looking forward to a very blessed, successful, fun school year. Welcome to the “upper” grades.
