Music Class

Get ready for International Week!  We have some fun and different things 
planned for this year!

The Fourth grades will be representing their countries with their recorders - 
you are in for a treat!  Seventh grade will be presenting posters on Chinese 
Composers, while the 8th grade will be presenting projects on Dubai.  Mark 
your calendars.

The 7th grade classes are busy working on a Musical project.  They are in the 
process of writing their own musicals, complete with songs and dance!  They 
are extremely excited.

The 8th grade is in the process of working on a Rock-N-Roll project.  They 
completed a study on the history for Rock and they are now forming their own 
rock band, complete with a tour and balance sheet of finances!

We staying very busy in Music class.

7th Grade Rubric
Musical Project


1.	All Musicals will have a title and a script to be handed in.

2.	All members of the group will have a part in the musical.

3.	All Musicals will have at least one dance routine where everyone in 
the group participates.

4.	All musicals will have at least two songs.  You may “borrow” a tune 
from a song you know or you can make your own.  Everyone in the group must 
participate in the singing of the song.

5.	Each musical will have at least two themes, one being love, the other 
some type of conflict.  As discussed in class, the “love” theme can be for 
a  “love of something” – ie: basketball, music, etc.

6.	All musicals must have appropriate language and themes.

7.	All musicals will presented to your class the time to be determined 
at a later date.

8.	Props may be brought in the day of your presentation and used only in 
the presentation.  They may not be worn or used anywhere else throughout the 
school day.

Grading:

Presentation                                       20 points
Completion of all items in the

International Week

Seventh Grade – China


All students will make a poster with information pertaining to their 
composer, which you chose.  Included on your poster will be pictures of your 
composer, facts on his/her life and any other information you wish to 
include.  Your entire poster board should be covered with information, 
pictures, etc.  Be sure you can explain the reason for the pictures on your 
poster!  This will count as one test grade.  The due date of the poster is 
March 6, 2008.  Any questions please see me ASAP!








Eighth Grade
Dubai



Your project will be to research any topic that has to do with the Arts for 
the country of Dubai.  I must approve your topic before you begin your 
project.  You will complete a project of your choice (paper, poster, 
building, mobile, etc.).  I must approve this project prior to beginning.  
Your project idea is due by 2-11 & 2-13 (Monday & Wednesday class).  Your 
final project will be due on March 3 & March 5.  This will count as a test 
grade.  Any questions please see me ASAP.
