Homework

Family "homework"- please read the announcements page and start gathering
information about your family's history regarding emigration to the United
States. Who came here first in your family? When? Why? From where?
Information from both sides of the family (Mom and Dad) would be best, but we
are looking to gather any information that you have available.

Reading Contract every night and returned to school the next day. Contracts
will be collected and graded every Monday. Students are expected to read at
least 5 nights a week for 20 minutes or more.

Typical homework includes:
Math- 1 study link and 1 computation practice (Students who have not yet
memorized all their facts will also be getting practice pages.
Spelling practice- No spelling this week.
Literacy- 1 reading or 1 language arts assignment
SS/Science- on occassion

**Homework should take ABOUT 50 minutes to complete. If your child is taking
much longer than that, please contact us. If an assignment is very difficult
please do not hesitate to send us a note, so that we can review it in class.
Homework is not intended to be "new learning" and assignments are meant to be
independent practice of lessons taught in class already. While we expect the
children to complete the assignments on their own, it is still helpful for an
adult to review the work with them at home.

Please continue to practice and learn the following:
Divisibilty Rules:
A number is divisible by ____ if ____________________________
2 if it's an even number

3 or 9 if you add up the digits and the sum is divisible by 3 or 9
     Example: 1,230 1+2+3+0= 6 soooo.... 1230 can be divided evenly by 3
(6/3=2) but not 9 (6/9 = not a whole number)

4 if the last two digits of the number are divisible by 4
     Example: 524 is divisible by 4 because 24/4 = 6

5 if it ends in 5 or 0

6 if it's divsible by 2 AND 3

10 if it ends in 0

**Most kids need practice with the 3,4,6, and 9 rule**
