At the age of 9, I knew I wanted to teach mathematics, and have taught
more than 30 years, with both high school and middle school experience in
Fairfield, Easton, and Trumbull. Our three daughters have graduated from
Hillcrest MS and THS. During my school career I have been a
high achiever, and at the University of Bridegport (BS, MS) was a Dana
Scholar, E.Everett Cortright Scholar, and member of Kappa Delta Pi (honor
society in education),graduating cum laude. I completed a 6th year in
Administration and Supervision at SHU where I received the Award for
Outstanding Thesis for a paper that explored the readability of the middle
school mathematics texts.
As a lifelong learner, I continue to learn from my students, and challenge
myself to improve, and they never disaapoint me--giving me a new view of how
they understand a concept. How can this be done better? is a question that is
ever present as lessons are planned to help make mathematics more
understandable for every student. My hope is that the students and I can work
together to go beyond the basic step-by-step processes, learning that these
are the tools that are intended to create a cohesive understanding of
mathematics as an integrated system that is the underpinning for applications
in many fields of study.
Belief: Each student has the right to learn.
To that end each person demonstrates respect for the standards of the school
and the classroom expectations in order to maintain the positive classroom
environment needed to promote success for all.
