RULES 1. Behave Appropriately - Respect each other, the classroom, the teacher, and yourself. 2. Be On Time – Be in your seat when the bell rings 3. Be Prepared – Bring all required materials to class daily. 4. Give It Your ALL – 100% effort is expected of everyone. Always do your best. TESTS AND QUIZZES There will be several quizzes during each unit as well as a cumulative exam at the end of each unit. Any suspected cheating or any student looking at another student’s desk will receive a zero for that assignment. Desks must be cleared of all non-test papers and materials. HOMEWORK Homework is graded on a 0-5 scale. The score awarded is based solely on completeness, not correctness. Some work must be shown for EACH problem to receive full credit. Homework will be spot checked. Late homework will not be accepted. PARTICIPATION Coming to class prepared with all required materials, being on time for class, and being actively engaged at all times are all aspects of participation that will influence your grade. CLASS DISMISSAL Class is not over until the bell rings. Packing up any class work or materials before class has ended will not be permitted. ATTENDANCE It is essential that you arrive to class on time daily. If you arrive after the bell has rung without a pass, you must sign the tardy list. For every unexcused tardy after the second one, you will have to serve an after school detention. If you cut class on the day of a test or quiz, you will receive a zero for that assessment. ELECTRONICS All cell phones, IPODs, and other electronic devices should be kept turned off and out of sight. If seen, they will be confiscated. OTHER MATERIALS Only materials necessary for math class should be out. Materials and work for other classes should not be visible during class. If seen, they will be confiscated. MAKE-UP WORK If you are absent from school on the day of a test or quiz, you are responsible for scheduling a time to make up the missed assessment on the day of your return. If it is not made up within three days, you will receive a zero. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the work. I will not come after you about it. All work for each day will be posted online. When you are absent, check the posting first, then before the bell rings, or after class, be sure to ask me if there was anything else you missed or need to do. Always be sure to get the notes you missed from a classmate. CONSEQUENCES 1st Time Any Offense – Verbal Warning 2nd Time Same Offense – Verbal Warning and After Class Conference with Ms. Healy 3rd Time Same Offense – Parental Contact and Detention 4th Time Same Offense – Removal from class and Referral to Office I reserve the right to skip consequences for major offenses or repeat offenders. I also reserve the right to make the punishment fit the crime. EXTRA HELP I will be available for extra help in the classroom on Thursdays and by appointment. Please try to let me know ahead of time if you plan on staying after to ensure that I will be there. PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS Home contact will be made for increased effort or a commendable score as well as for absences, tardies, cuts, missed assignments, or unacceptable behavior.
