This is my tenth year teaching and eighth at THS. I am excited and thrilled
to be embarking on a new year. These classes continue to rise to the bar I
set each year and am anxious to see how this years class will fare.
Algebra One will be the study of basic algebraic principles, with an emphasis
on CAPT preparation.
Precalculus will be the study of a variety of functions, with a focus on
trigonometry during the second semester.
Calculus will be the study of limits, which will lead us into derivatives and
integrals. We will try to emphasize the application of the mathematics,
rather than the rote memorization of the concepts.
Each and every day, I continue to hope that all of my students rise to (and
above) the challenge I put in front of them daily.
One of my nephews has served two tours in IRAQ and completed his service
to the US Marine Corps in Novemeber 2008. Semper Fi. One of my niece's is a
senior attending Central Connecticut State University, studying to become a
PE teacher. I retired from competitive softball last year due to injury.
Two years ago, I chaperoned a trip to Italy with the THS Chorus and will be
chaperoning their trip in Spring 2010 to Austria & Czech Republic. I enjoyed
my fourth trip out of the U.S.A. My favorite performers on my IPOD are Billy
Joel, Boyz II Men, David Roth, Garth Brooks, Michael Buble, and Pink.
I enjoy spending time at Disney World (which I have visited 13 times in my
life) and traveling. In 2001, I traveled cross-country via AMTRAK (to
Seattle) then on to my dream location to teach, Alaska. In high school, I
was an All-State Softball player. I also enjoy to play sports of all types
and watch them too. My favorite team to watch is the New York Yankees. I
have enjoyed watching them play until October every year, hoping for a great
end to a "great" season!
In November 2003, I was inducted into Stratford High's Athletic Hall of Fame
for volleyball, basketball, and softball. As only the fifth female
inductee, I was honored to earn this distinction. I went to Stratford High
School and earned the All-State honor during my senior year (1993) for
catching. I batted .521 and hit 10 homeruns my senior year in 20 games. At
Stratford High, I hold the record for # of homeruns, # of triples, # of
hits, slugging percentage, batting average, # of RBI's, etc.
