What type of calculator do I need and how soon do I need it ?

For Pre-cal you will need a graphing calculator this year. If you are not
planning any heavy duty math in college get the TI83 plus. This calculator
will have all of the options you need, plenty of memory and they are more
reasonably priced than a TI84. You will need the calculator ASAP, we will
begin to use it on Tuesday after Labor Day.
For AP Statistics I would recommend the TI84, it is the latest and greatest
and has some applications I will show you how to use that the TI83 plus does
not have. If you already have a TI83 plus DON'T BUY ANOTHER CALCULATOR, it
will work just fine. You will need the calculator immediately, the first
homework assignment requires graphing calculator work.
For Algebra I 200 you need a basic calculator that includes a square root
button. The sooner you have it the sooner you can use it.

What if I'm absent; when is my homework due?

If you have an excused absence(not a cut); the homework that would have been
due that day is due on the day you return. Homework assign while you were
absent is due within a week of the actual due date.

Really, How hard is Pre-cal and AP Statistics?

These courses are both very rigorous classes designed for highly motivated
student who wish to take advanced levels of mathematics in college. Both of
these courses get harder as the year progresses and grades will drop in the
3rd and 4th marking period if you are not willing to perceiver to the very
end.
