| Coach D Mathematics Olympics
Math Olympics is a game that will be played from time to time in Coach D’s math class. It may be
played for a week straight, or for individual days over a several week period. Each “game” will be
played for a minimum of 5 class periods and there will be at most 3 “games” during each marking
period.
At the end of each “game”, the team to earn the most points will be awarded the:
• GOLD MEDAL: 2 POINTS to the FINAL semester GRADE of each member of the team.
• The next most points will be awarded the SILVER MEDAL: 1 POINTS to the FINAL semester GRADE of
each member of the team.
How can each team accumulate points? Your team can accumulate points based
on academic or behavioral “events”. Some of the points will be awarded to
the team that:
· Finishes something first,
· Finishes within a certain timeframe
· Completes the item successfully
· Helps contribute to the class discussion by either reading what is on the board or answering math
specific question.
Sometimes everyone on the team will have to demonstrate the item. Sometimes
only one member of the team will have to demonstrate the item.
Can points be taken away from my team? Yes. When individual or team
behavior is of an extreme, your team may lose points.
