Weekly Letter

November 23-24, 2009

Greetings from Miss Gerber’s Class!

Dear Parents,

Hello!  This week we will culminate our theme of “Changing Seasons.”  We will turn our focus towards the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving, talking about which members of our family we spend the holiday with, where we spend it, what foods we eat, etc.   In circle we will do an activity that asks each child who is coming to their house for Thanksgiving dinner.  They then have to find the corresponding family member picture and put that picture at the “table,” and to help with our one to one correspondence count out enough chairs for each family member at the table.  We will also practice our patterning and fine motor skills by making macaroni necklaces.

Our big activity will be our holiday centers, which the p.m. class will have on Monday and the a.m. class will have on Tuesday.  Thanks again to all of the parents for contributing and especially to the parents who are coming in and helping out with the centers!

We had a lot of fun talking about the “circle” last week.  We even created our own human circle!  Next week we will continue our emphasis on shapes by focusing on the square.

Just a reminder there is school this Monday and Tuesday, and then no school beginning this Wednesday, November 25th for the Thanksgiving holiday break.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!!

Sincerely,

Miss Gerber :)
