I am beginning my fifth year at TECEC this year! I grew up in Trumbull,
going to school and working in our family business, Pacelli's Bakery, and am
so happy to be back in my hometown to contribute to our community! I
received my Master's Degree in Deaf Education: Family Centered Early
Education from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in 2004. I received
my Bachelor's Degree in Family Studies: Human Development and Family
Relations from The University of Connecticut, Storrs, in 2000. In addition
to being a highly qualified, certified integrated early childhood special
education teacher, I am also a certified teacher of the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing. Before coming to work at TECEC, I taught at American School for the
Deaf in West Hartford, CT. I am fluent in American Sign Language and use
signs to supplement our curriculum regularly in my classroom.
I am so fortunate to have a great partner in my classroom paraprofessional,
Jean Strobel (Miss Jean) and Miss Bette (in the PM session)! They are both
warm, loving women who brings their own
knowledge and expertise to our classroom. Miss Jean and Miss Bette value the
learning
process, and do all that they can to help our students succeed. They have a
natural gift in working with children, and we are so lucky to have them as a
part of our school experience.
On a personal note, I am a die-hard Yankee fan! For fun, I enjoy music,
exercising, watching my favorite TV shows with my husband, and spending
time with my family and friends.
The mission for our class is to learn through hands on experiences and having
fun! Preschool is full of wonderful learning opportunities relating to the
development of cognitive, social/emotional, physical, speech/language, and
self-help skills, and we get to have fun while we're learning!
