Power of the Communication Notebook: *This is a positive and effective Home/ School means of communication over and above informal one on one talks, conferences, PPTs, phone calls or email *I will write to you daily *Please write to me indicating successes or difficulties, how your childs night was (strides in potty training?, trouble sleeping?, difficulties with siblings?), morning (breakfast?, lunch?), any questions and clarifications needed *I will read your book at the start of each day and sit with your child individually to 'chat' about your entry (please indicate if you do NOT want me to discuss with your child) *Weekend News/ Daily news- please write/ draw/ place photos to indicate as much detail as possible what your child experienced and if we can share with the class *Show & Tell- at times I will ask you to put this in the book and your child will share during circle *This book will also serve as a log of how well your child has progressed during the year on many levels. It is important that this book is durable- hence the request at the beginning of the year for a 'marble covered notebook'. Too often the spiral notebooks will break and are not thick enough to withstand the entire school year. I want you to be able to look back at this log to track your childs' progress for years to come! -For example: transition from home to school- 'Your child cried for the first 5 minutes but with TLC was able to be redirected to play', 'Your child came into the classroom teary eyed but was able to go over to play independantly', 'Your child came in with a big smile!' (may take a week or a month to see the progress- but this is a concrete way to measure!) Inside Front Cover: *Please indicate all updated contact numbers, address and adults that are allowed to pickup from TECEC if not on the school bus Inside Back Cover: Glossary of Stickers/ Stamps Daily Behavior: GREEN- Great Listener to all teachers YELLOW- Warning RED- Teacher is SAD Daily Random Acts of Kindness: One Heart- independantly did a good deed for another peer/ teacher Extra Long Heart- multiple good deeds for others On Music Days: Magic Star- Excellent listener and active participant Little Star- Minimal cues were needed to listen and participate No Star- needed help listening and participating Daily Centers: Your child will play in at least one of the centers listed on the 'Centers page' per day.
