Do you accept children just from Trumbull?
Our Head Start center is a regional program which serves, Trumbull, Monroe,
Stratford, Fairfield, Bridgeport and Easton.
What number is my child on the waiting list?
Children are appoved for entrance based upon a Selection Criteria Point
System. The Selection Criteria identifies the needs of each individual
family. This ensures that the neediest families are approved for entrance
into our program.
If I don't income qualify, can I pay to come to Head Start?
All families must meet the income guidelines to qualify. The guidelines that
are used are based upon 100/130% of the Federal Poverty guidelines. There is no
fee that you can pay for entrance into the program.
Do you accept children with disabilities?
Ten percent (10%) of our total enrollment are children with disabilities.
These families are not required to meet the income guidelines.
How many children are in a classroom?
Our Head Start classroom has an enrollment of 17 children. Our Full Day
Wraparound classroom has a total enrollment of 20 children.
What can I do to help?
All families are encouraged to volunteer in our program, however, it is
not mandated for acceptance. We have monthly Parent & Policy Committee
meetings at the center. At this meeting all aspects of the program are
discussed. All parents are invited, and we encourage active participation.
How old does my child have to be to attend Head Start?
Your child must be three by December 31st to attend our 1/2 day program.
Your child must be three on his/her first day of attendance to attend the Full
Day Wraparound classroom.
Can I volunteer in the classroom?
All families are encouraged to volunteer. Based upon Trumbull Public School
district policy each parent that wishes to volunteer must submit a Volunteer
Security form.
What should my child wear to school?
All families are encourages to dress their child in SNEAKERS and play clothes
everyday, This will allow them to participate in daily classroom
activities,successfully play on our playground (weather permitting) and
participate in gross motor activities.
Other types of shoes or fancy clothes can hinder your child’s safety.
Do I need to pack a lunch or snack?
Breakfast, lunch, and snack are provided on a daily basis through the Trumbull
Board of Education Food Services division. Head Start follows the guidelines
set forth by The State of Connecticut Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Does my child have to come every day?
Our program is based on a 5 day a week schedule.
Do you provide transportation to Head Start?
It is the parent/guardian responsibility to provide transportation.
