FOCUS - June 24-July 21
The fundamental purpose of FOCUS is to provide stimulating, hands-on activities to illustrate concepts and skills. FOCUS strives to ignite intellectual curiosity, reinforce basic study skills, and teach students how to make connections to further their learning. The program's goal is to prepare middle school students for the academic and social expectations for both high school and prep school. Small classes and a supportive environment help students improve their written and oral ENGLISH skills. FOCUS ELI courses have been carefully selected and designed to integrate skills essential for students to develop their ability in writing, speaking, listening, and reading. English placement is determined after testing on the first day of classes. College for Kids
College for Kids is a program designed for children in grades 2-11. The courses available for these students range from Robotics and Art to Fashion Design and Computer Networking. Classes are held each summer in classrooms and labs on the STCC campus. The College for Kids program includes two, 2-week sessions and classes are typically held Monday through Thursday in two-hour blocks.
Registration Process
Applications will be considered on a 'first-come, first-served' basis and space is strictly limited in all courses. Many courses will be fully enrolled before the start of classes so early application is strongly recommended.

Cyber Launch Pad
The Summer Place for Learning, Typing, Word Processing and Programming plus Remediation in Reading, Thinking, Math, Spelling, Writing/Word Processing, Study and Organizational Skills.
Specializing in LEARNING DISABILITIES
two, three, or four weeks - 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
Half days for four weeks in July. Come for two or more weeks. Participants download CyberSlate onto their home computers prior to the sessions. Parents and children learn how to use CyberSlate to practice every day at home, as well as in the daily classes. The daily program is a fast-paced combination of learning keyboarding, word processing, and programming, and remedial sessions in reading, writing, and arithmetic.

2007 Summer Camp Session Dates

Dates:
The tuition refund policy is described in detail in the camp application.
Residential camper schedule: arrive Sunday at 1pm and depart Friday at 2pm.
Day camper schedule: Sunday 1pm to 9:30pm (optional after 7pm). Monday - Thursday campers arrive 8:45am and are picked up any time as of 5pm and no later than 9:30pm. There is no extra charge for the extended day. Friday 8:45am to 2pm. Day campers may be dropped off as early as 7:45am. The extra fee is $40 per week and includes daily breakfast.
Campers may attend several weeks. The curriculum is continuous with no repetition from week to week.
Coed ages 8-18 with computer backgrounds from absolute beginner to super advanced.
We accept applications until we are booked.
At camp all the computers are networked and connected to the Internet.
During instruction campers are grouped by background and by age.
The camper to staff ratio is 6:1.
The curriculum consists of 7 major areas: video game design, computer languages, web page design, digital video production, software applications, Network+ certification and A+ hardware certification (see Curriculum).
Campers select the course(s) they want to take at camp on the Background Form that is mailed to the campers upon receipt of the application (see Forms and see Courses).
Northfield Mount Hermon School
For students entering grades 7-9. Supplement middle school courses and focus on skills necessary for more advanced high school courses. Students select two major courses plus an afternoon minor course and sport.
MAJOR COURSE OFFERINGS: Writing, Skills in Literature, Drama Literature, Realistic Fiction, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Field Biology, Beginning French, Beginning Spanish
MINOR COURSE OFFERINGS: Art, Drama, Guitar, Multimedia, Photography, Reading and Study Skills, and others.
