starting in September. Using the cards we receive,
the children will review and reinforce reading skills, geography skills and
other integrated information as well, such as history and science.

Mrs. Stamp's Kindergarten TeacherWeb Ollie's Travels (2008-2009)
 

We are organizing a group from the states to get ready for the new year. 
During the 2008-2009 school year, the first graders are involved in four
projects, a traveling buddy project,one day travel buddy visitor named Ollie,
and Gingerbread Boy and Girl,
and a postcard exchange. Our project will also revolve around a stuffed
puppy... Ollie! 
 Ollie will race his brother Oscar, to see who can visit 25 states first! Both
collie puppies will be traveling at the same time (one east to west, and the
other west to east).  



Ollie started his journey.  He is going to the other side of USA to
California. Look above at the map! 
Our visit from Ollie will be on March 3, 2008.
We hope he is not too late!

The second project-Traveling buddies has a new set up where our buddy will be
"beaniesized"  I have decided to use the Conneticut State Quarter Bear to
continue with a bear called Volly.  Volly is from Voluntown,CT. 
  Voluntown's mascot is an Eagle.  Our school colors are blue and gold. Our
class will learn about different areas of our country through the exchange of
stuffed animals called Traveling Buddies.
 Our Traveling Buddy
will visit a different school and their Traveling Buddy will stay with us. The
children will record their activities in a journal. Pictures will be taken and
e-mails sent to document this exciting project.
The traveling buddies
project is a mascot exchange program where collaborating classrooms will learn
about other areas of the country through the exchange of a class "buddy",
email, journal, and digital photos. This is our Buddy named Volly. We will be
spending time enjoying him in our classroom and taking pictures of him before
we send him off. He will be visiting three other classrooms this year, and we
will be hosting those classroom mascots in our room, too.  Volly will travel
to Colorado,South Dakota,Illinois and Florida ,this year.  We're so excited to
hear about all his travels.
