<DIV>West Shore General Music uses a "hands-on" approach to music education.  Students will address both the <A href="http://www.menc.org/resources/view/national-standards-for-music-education">District and National Music Standards </A>by performing on multiple instruments including; guitar, keyboards, bass guitar and drums.  Students learn the basics of each instrument through extended Units of Learning. As a culminating task, students are required to form a band and perform a song of their choice with at least three other classmates.  </DIV>

<DIV>West Shore General Music also covers composition by using the <EM>Sibelius</EM> composing program. Students will compose a full length original song as a final project for this Unit. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Other projects will include exploring musical history, culture and various genres and styles through reading and writing. </DIV>
