Their Resource Room period is the perfect time for your student to get a head
start on, or even complete, their daily homework, as well as to work on long
term assignments.
Students are generally assigned either 2 or 3 periods a week of Resource
time. You should emphasise to your child the importance of using their
Resource time wisely.
Students need to report to the Resource Room ready to work. They need to
have whatever homework or project they have assigned with them when they
arrive. It is not appropriate, nor a good use of valuable Resource time, to
be running back to lockers or classrooms (where classes are usually in
session) to be retrieving books, assignments, etc.
Students can then receive any help they require for whatever assignments they
wish to complete. This is a great opportunity to review concepts that they
may not have understood in the classroom, get some assistance with
brainstorming and planning an upcoming project or writing piece that they
just don't know how to start, or clean up and edit a final project or piece
of writing prior to handing it in.
Once again, I would encourage you to email me with any questions or concerns
that you may have as they relate to problems with homework or projects.
