The Janney Cybrary is open every school day during the regular school hours. In addition, the Library is opens at 8:45am and stays open until 3:30 pm on Monday through Friday to allow students to check out books and materials and return items that are due. How many books may a student check out? Grade 1 may check out one book at a time. Grade 2 may check out two books at a time. Grade 3 may check out three books at a time. Grade 4 may check out four books at a time. Grade 5 may check out five books at a time. Grade 6 may check out six books at a time. How long may a student keep a book borrowed from the Library? Students may check books out for a period of two weeks. Books may be renewed as necessary by requesting renewal at the Library. Students are encouraged to bring their books with them when requesting renewal. What happens if a book is not returned by the due date? Students who do not return materials on time will receive an overdue notice through their classroom teacher. No late fines are assessed through the Janney Library unless the item is lost or damaged. When a student receives such a notice, he or she is expected to return or renew overdue materials immediately. When an item is more than one month overdue, it will be considered lost, a letter will be mailed home to notify the parents/guardian, and the student will be asked to return, replace, or pay for the item at that time. What happens if a book is damaged or lost? Materials borrowed from the Library that are damaged or lost must be replaced. Students are responsible for replacing those items. A notice will be sent home with details on what has been lost and the cost of replacement and steps that can be taken to fix the situation. |
